Today Clara and I exchanged journal feedback as we shared feedback that we had gotten from the teachers during the prototyping course. The following was the main outcomes of the exercise: I will aim to hand in the journal at every opportunity to get feedback on how to improve. I will aim to be up-to-date with my entries. I will try to be concise as well as being more reflective than descriptive. I aim to add quotes since they can help during the final essay assignment. I aim to be more expressive of points of frustration during the course work as they can show more reflection within the whole module.
We had some time to brainstorm some ideas on what sounds and skill that could be considered in different situations which could be seen below.

There were ideas where we knew that leaned more towards a concept than an exploration of what is at hand. The idea was controlling movements through specific musical notes. While our inspiration came from a children’s game called TuneMeIn “Easy doesn’t do it – skill and expression in tangible aesthetics” (Djajadiningrat et al , pp. 664, 2007). One would have to collaborate to make a character move around. At this stage we were Diverging and it is something that we will probably continue doing until next week. This idea of implementing sound as an output through a “game” could become too conceptual or sound respond to movement. An idea that could be interesting is the code detecting the different notes played on an instrument and reacting accordingly through the screen (Minor vs Major? or different notes A vs C)
There was an idea of having nature sounds in relation to working with calmness. Although I have used sound in the research/studio course in connection to aesthetics it could be good to implement this. It became an aspect where I have been using within the calming aspect of an interaction and how sound could be implemented within that situation. Since we also discussed nature sounds but haven’t really planned an experiment around it as of yet. On the other hand, we haven’t been looking at the code and thinking on what the nuance in this will be interaction what visual would we show, could we use audio as a feedback as well even. (Updated)
During Coaching we presented the different ideas that we had such as playing musical notes would correspond to certain movements on the screen, a controller of sorts. When talking about control of movement Clint mentioned an interesting aspect that could frame the exploration is the orientation and direction through the experiences within the code. It became apparent that that wasn’t the way we should go about it since we haven’t played with the code so we can see what we can do with it.
Before we left we made a plan to work more on the codes and have an example to show each other by Monday. As well as design attribute delay and instant, where it could be seen as intentional or if it’s a design flaw which is also due Monday.
