Today we presented our device which was not functional correctly. We didn’t produce many things to show which we knew was going to be a topic of discussion during the feedback.
In hindsight we were thinking more of the different states and how they would look as in the beginning it was subjective feeling of what the different states represent which we were trying to play with the different parameters to show them such as altering the speed of the sequence, playing with the pulse and the brightness.
They said that the plant metaphor example was an interesting thing to pursue although when we brought it up in coaching we were told it was too conceptual and to move to a more abstract example. So we had this object with its main thing was for it to look inviting to the user to pick up and move around. We did not succeed in making the code for the sequences to work together but we did have the different states. The main issue was making them work in the conditional statement that we used in the loop as well as the implementation of delays in the different examples.
The first state was supposed to be a calm state but in the show and tell based on the lighting and the issue that one of the sensors would pick up high light intensity
Unfortunately we found that out too late to change it, due to us going back to the sequences more and thinking of the light sensor as the way we wanted to work with only because we didn’t come up with different ideas for the proximity meter and that I only had an ldr at my disposal so we leaned more on it.
Although I was with presenting the sequences which you can see in prior entries as it would have added more about the process than showing and talking about it rather than just talking about it. Unfortunately it all fell through in a discussion if that would be useful so we aimed on making the object respond by the different states instead.
Although Jens said we took too long to start producing during a coaching session with him he told us to take a step back and go back to sequence to explore a story to tell, at times it can be difficult to know what is the right thing to do when there are changes in stances or times where we should not take the advice in a way for example when we were working on the plant idea that reacts to the different light levels in the room.
This has been a learning experience, although we didn’t have much to show we were given advice on time management while on the other hand it was more on the technical side of the project where we fell short
