Interactivity M3 – (Thursday, Week 1)

I was able to make an example work today where a sound would play a ding once two parts meet, which in this case the two wrists. although it was not that interesting with the use of wrists it implementing the time interval where for the pose to register. What we found out was that we will not really use the timer idea since it could become tougher and some what a controller. Once the specified range distance is reached the ding sound would play. My computer kept crashing making the code, I don’t know if its because of how I made my code or if the file is demanding.

We started by reflecting on the ding sketch, questions such as how to change the experience such as making it rather than when your wrists are close to each other it makes a sound when your further away from and more open body movement. We also thought about making the user need more stillness, but then it becomes more of a challenging experience than what we want to look at.

We want to build on the ding idea by thinking of combinations of constraining the bodily movements. Thoughts such as changing the interaction from wrists to the ankles instead.

We got a fellow classmate that had no idea what it was to see if they could understand what was happening, which they did. We didn’t get any coaching today but hopefully tomorrow. We aim to think more about what exactly are we going for theme wise, and tinker with the code.

An interesting video that I found that uses kinesthetics and sound, an idea that came from that is having a continuous output which will take us on the right path.
