Interactivity M2 (Tuesday – W1)

Through reading Unlocking the expressivity of point lights by Harrission et al. we wanted to try and make the examples become implemented through the examples that they had as an experimentation of what are the possible waves graphs and try to copy them or build on them.

We started with working on the gradual and see if we can mimic the wave structure, we were quick to learn that it was not possible to actually get everything working as shown in the paper for it to portray the different emotions such as calmness or examples such as the light house example. Looking at it it was somewhat redundant to try to get the curves the same as we did manage to get them working similarly but sharper than curver the vertex. In reality there is not much of a difference in the experience which is what the aim of this week is tinkering with the code and experiencing it.

This one was the first sequence we had which was slow and had a timer for it to be off. By having the time it could differentiate between different states but there isn’t much special about the sequence. The emotion could be alertness as it is only on at full intensity for a period of time and the timer is implemented.

For Thursday we decide to make a few light sequences and explore them, I will try to make a light house example and see if the feeling could be felt even if the curve is not the same.
