Interactivity M2 (W1 – Thursday)

We shared the different patterns that we made for the project, but came to find out that some of the sequences he made where just based on tinkering without thinking about a specific feeling but I did have in mind a specific emotion which was danger/alertness. So we looked into expressing behaviours and connect character to the experiments. The different input values that can be manipulated are brightness, sequences, and speed. By listing them we knew what different things we can do.

Expressing behaviors

– connecting character to experiments

-Input values (brightness, pattern, speed) (voltage, full battery implications)

Nr.1

  • For both examples you can see the pattern
  • Could make it longer sequence and have different timings (i.e. longer period of off state?)
  • Charging kind of experience
  • Waiting for something to happen kind of feeling
  • This is us tinkering with the code to see what we can get through the experience
    • Mainly to look at the time aspect

Nr.2

  • Could allude to something within the delivery process (email received?)
  • Light value (gradual build )
  • Experience: Calming and has a slow feeling
  • Could become more calm through dimming of light and not reaching full brightness

Nr. 3

  • Pace of the sequence makes us feel some what alert in both examples as on the light on state is short while the pace of the second pattern is faster at the second phase of the sequence.
  • Change in Brightness through the second video which could be seen in the graph and could be seen in the video
  • More realistic when duration is randomized with no light
  • Some “receiving” of data kind of interaction
  • The idea of speed within the sequence is explored with the feeling off something is functioning towards some issue or rendering is happening once it has a faster pace.

Nr.5

I tried to convey a dangerous feeling as that was my aim the experience of mine was to give a dangerous feeling, something that calls for attention similar to a light house in a way. Although with its simplicity I looked at other ways such as the second wave where there is a change in the light intensity as could be seen in the reflection of the second video. This could be used to implement a discomfort or a calm feeling if the light on state duration was longer. We were trying to tinker with the code to express and experience different emotions.

For Friday:

  • Get sensor to respond
    • On stage, Dim light, Off state
  • Implement code

We brainstormed what could be done with the LDR sensor, thought as the light mimics real life flashing lights, having a sort of language where pulsing when a change in state is detected, Initiation process, how does it know that we want it to repeat a light sequence as an example, and how can we make it irritated as an example.

My teammate will look into the use of the proximity sensor.

The closer you are the faster the sequence goes

  • The faster we approach it something happens
  • Alert within proximity
